While access to pornography is a right protected by law for every living and breathing citizen, access to porn for children is something that even the porn producers agree is a bad idea. The use of proxy servers to make web surfing anonymous means that a smart teen can get around whatever filter, whatever block their parents put on by simply typing in http proxy list, or something similar into the search engine of their choice.
Since a proxy server can access sites and leave no trace, and since a teen is just as likely to know that as an adult, it is a great temptation for them to sneak one by on their parents by accessing one. The proxy is their go-between, like the uncle that lacks discipline and lets them get away with it. Setting aside temporarily the noble uses of proxy lists for security, to screen out malware and viruses or to get around government imposed censorship, a proxy can lead some down the wrong path.
Don’t misunderstand, if your dream is to be able to see as much flesh and intercourse as you can in a short amount of time, and you are over 18, that is your right to do that. However, kids are tempted to look, and they should not look at what you look at. You have to know a little about proxies before you can safely steer your kids away from them.
There are open proxies, which act as a sort of forwarding agent that any internet surfer can access. The truth is that there are hundreds of thousands of open proxies available. Some of them are known as anonymous open proxies and allow the user to conceal the IP address that identifies the particular computer to the sites they visit and allows the sites to install cookies into the computer to recognize it when you return to the site.
If in your computer’s internet history you see a search for proxies, or access to a proxy server, then someone in your home is accessing sites they don’t want you to see. Make sure that person isn’t your spouse because that could be an awkward conversation. Kids as young as Junior High School age are familiar with proxies. With the use of proxies, the teen can even get around parentally installed filtering software on the computer.
It’s more than just denying access, it’s checking with them constantly. Purchase a program that records the sites that are accessed, and remember, once you see ‘proxy’ on the list of sites accessed, you won’t be able to see the sites they visit. Just be familiar with what they are, how they work and how to defeat them.
