Cybercrime is costing agencies billions of dollars. It is not going anywhere unfortunately, in the near future. Instead of ignoring those security updates and individual would do well to update their security applications as often as possible, or daily when appropriate.
Unfortunately there are some situations that occur when updating or security updates simply do not or cannot apply, leaving an open door for hackers and other criminals to take hold of. This is the case for mobile apps and many social media networks. These areas are often targeted by cybercriminals, because they are the easiest for criminals to gain a foothold in. It is often simply too difficult to keep up-to-date with the changes that are rapidly taking place in social media, with platforms, and with mobile applications. Because of this, cybercriminals sometimes have a blank ticket with regard to hacking or entering open doors.

Hackers according to some reports are smarter with regard to how they are using social media. This may frighten some, and perhaps terrify others. But it shouldn’t. It simply means that hackers are making it harder for individual users to determine who or what online is legitimate when it comes to social media campaigns. Hackers are starting to set up their own social media websites or pages that look legitimate, when they are not. They are simply phishing pages meant to trick individuals into providing their personal information.
Other hackers are sending mobile phone requests in an attempt to get individuals to provide their personal information. Many times people use their mobile apps to browse the internet as well. These devices are simply not as secure as a computer, which opens the door for hacking. The best that users can do? When possible, use a computer. It’s simply more secure.
