One of the many dangers of surfing the web is the chance of infecting your computer with a virus. Now, there are as many different kinds of viruses that infect computers as there are sexually transmitted diseases. Each different computer virus has a varying degree of effect on your computer. Just as there is a vast difference between catching crabs or chlamydia which can be treated with medication and contracting the HIV virus, there is a vast difference in the viruses for your computer.
Some are inconvenient, your anti-virus software has to stop the advancement of the virus and quarantine the code before your computer is damaged. Others “hide” on your computer and surreptitiously record all the keystrokes you make to allow a third party to record your passwords for the bank, email or social media accounts. Others get into your computer, re-write code and make your computer a $1,000 paperweight.
One of the most common delivery systems for the HIV type computer viruses is, let’s face it, porn sites. And what is one of the most common reasons that people surf the internet? You guessed it, porn! Pornographic websites are today’s equivalent to the dirty magazines hidden behind cardboard in the local convenience store. They are the destination of men (mostly men), women, and teenagers. (It is the equivalent of the Playboys under the mattress for teen boys.) When the virus delivery system of porn is used, millions of people searching for a thrill online end up infecting their computer at work.
But these days, blocking or tracking the web sites that people visit has become easier. And just as with everything porn related, people learned a way around the blocks and tracking and that way is through an anonymous proxy list. The way it works is rather simple, a proxy is a computer that your computer calls remotely so that all of the web surfing you do is routed through the proxy. Tracking or blocking become things of the past if you have the right proxy!
But then here is the bad news. Those devious ones who tempt you with free porn will get paid, whether you know it or not. The way they get paid is to send a little present along with the photo of the hot blonde washing the car in a transparent t-shirt. That present is a virus. And there is a particularly dangerous one making the rounds right now.
This one is called the W32/Child-Porn.PROXY/Server. It weasels its way into your computer and infects files, where it monitor’s user’s activity, browsing history and scrolls through personal folders on the computer as well. Once the virus has collected enough information, it then sends it to the third party who created it via a proxy server of their own. Then it plays with you. When enter genuine (i.e. non-porn related) search terms, the virus redirects you to pornographic sites, some of them featuring child pornography. You need to get rid of this infection as soon as is possible.
